The number your engine needs
A fuel’s octane rating measures its resistance to “knock”, the unwanted pre-ignition that happens when fuel detonates before the spark fires. Modern engines vary in compression ratio, geometry, and operating conditions, so different engines call for different octane levels. A higher octane number means greater resistance to knocking or pinging during combustion.

Why we blend with ethanol
Ethanol is a renewable, non-fossil resource produced from plant-based feedstock — sugarcane, corn, and wheat — that helps lower greenhouse gas emissions from every litre burned. Canadian regulation has required a minimum renewable fuel content in gasoline since 2010, and Polar Oils has supplied ethanol-blended gasoline as our standard product ever since.
